Let us introduce the most threatened bird species in all of Europe, North Africa and Middle East. It is one of 189 species of threatened birds in the whole world with only a few remaining colonies. The Northern bald Ibis is also commonly called the Waldrapp.

Once upon a time this mythical bird that could be found across Northern Africa, the Middle East and even the Alps. In ancient Egypt it had a powerful status and was an important symbol. It was thought to carry the soul into the afterlife. Now its numbers have dropped dramatically to less than 300 and is critically threatened and on the brink of extinction. It can only be found in Syria and Morocco. This is the story of the Northern Bald Ibis and what can be done to save the species from extinction.
